General
Must I register myself for my degree before moving into Metanoia?
If possible, we ask prospective students to register themselves online before coming to residence. However if they are unable to for any reason, Metanoia boasts an equipped group of mentors that will help you register for your degree, sort out any administration issues with you and handle the collection of your student card How is the residence split between men and ladies?
The residence is divided into four floors, each consisting of sections of between 20 and 30 students. Each section is assigned a House Committee member who is in charge of the section. On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor, the sections are all split according to sex. The 5th floor is completely mixed between the sexes.

Maintenance
What is prohibited in rooms?
Open heaters, pets, cigarettes, electric blankets, candles, halogen lamps or any appliances with an exposed element that could be a fire risk.
What extras may I bring to my room?
Fridges, Microwaves, kettles and fans are allowed in rooms.

Room Placements

What do I have to do to get residence placement in Metanoia?
Unfortunately Metanoia has no control over who gets placed in our residence, due to the Residence Placement Policy, and therefore all applications go through the administration of the University of Stellenbosch. You will have applied for residence when applying for your degree

 

Section Rivalries

What is section rivalries?
Section Rivalries is a year long inter section competition where sections compete against each other in a variety of activities. Sections are awarded points for performance or participation for each event. The section that has accumulated the most points throughout the year is crowned as section of the year. The winning section receives a prize that is decided by the section rivalries hc every year.

What is cluster?

Rubix brings together five diverse student communities: Heemstede, Metanoia, Nerina, Pieke, and Venustia. Together, they form an interconnected and supportive cluster family that you’ll be part of throughout your university journey.
This is a space where students from all walks of life come together to l earn, grow, and create meaningful connections that extend far beyond Metanoia.
Within Rubix, you can expect opportunities to meet new people, participate in cluster engagements, access academic support, and get involved leadership initiatives, all designed to help you settle in, feel supported, and make the most of your time at Stellenbosch. This cluster truly becomes a second home, offering energy, encouragement, and a collective spirit that makes Rubix stand out.

How do I sign up for a cluster?

Being part of Metanoia means that you are automatically allocated to Rubix. You will find out about events and sport days through the Rubix Instagram, as well as it being communicated on the Metanoia WhatsApp groups.
